5 Best Kwikset Smart Locks Review 2022

5 Best Kwikset Smart Locks Review

Kwikset’s smart locks are a viable option for those looking to replace their old hardware, as they do well enough against competitors like Schlage and Yale. The downside is that these products lack certain features found in competing models, which makes them less versatile overall; however, this also means affordability might be more important when deciding between two different brands or types of lock systems – so if price matters most, then Kwiskets may still prove worthwhile!
Kwikset has some of the best smart locks around, with innovative options and an excellent style. We’re especially fans of their SmartKey rekeying feature that allows you to change your key without getting rid of 12 or more old ones in case it’s lost!

Kwikset offers several models, including one from our top pick list – however, many other great choices depend upon how much security is needed for any given situation.

What to expect with Kwikset smart locks?

If you’re looking for an easy way to secure your home, Kwikset smart locks can’t be beaten. At a push of the button on their keychain remote or through a mobile app (available for both iOS and Android), they will lock automatically when sensors sense motion within range – perfect if there are no more keys! This feature also works well as part residential deadbolt because visitors still need access code to get inside without breaking anything or installing any additional hardware themselves, such as security cameras, etc.

The similarities between models give buyers plenty of choices, while certain features may differ per brand name, such as programming codes via phone calls versus online account management interfaces.

Similarities between Kwikset’s smart locks

The battery power: All smart locks require batteries; Kwikset’s tool of choice is four AA batteries. These go in an enclosure (which can be bulky) on the inside of your door, and they last about as long with wi-fi, Bluetooth, or Zigbee models but not HomeKit, nor does a Z-Wave. It makes sense because it’s costly compared to other brands.

Mobile App: Kwikset’s smart locks are not just a way to keep your doors locked; they work with the latest mobile app technology so that you can control them anywhere.

Automatic Locking: The lock automatically locks after 30 seconds of inactivity to prevent theft. Turning this setting on is as easy with the Kwikset app for your smartphone or via manual steps if you’re using one of their other devices, like a Halo doorbell camera!

Durable construction: Kwikset smart locks are designed to resist attacks by hackers, making them tough enough for most homeowners. One downside is that they don’t offer quite as much protection against lockpickers or physical force – but then again, nothing does!

The durability of these high-tech devices can withstand everything from drilling down through door hinges up into your apartment’s walls without cracking under pressure.

Keypads and backup keys: Bluetooth range extenders and keypads: it’s easy to unlock a Kwikset smart lock without having the original remote. Keys, passwords, or backup keys can do this as well! Some models only come with one form of input (keypad vs. keyhole), but all have options for either type depending on your needs and preferences; some locks even offer both methods so you never needlessly give up access when moving from the place-to-place keyhole, some—like the Obsidian and the Halo Touch—have only one.

Installation: A Kwikset smart door lock is easy to install and can be done in 20 minutes with a simple screwdriver. There’s no drilling or complex wiring needed, making this an ideal choice for do-it-yourselfers who want their home security system without hiring professionals to set it up!

Smart Key: Kwikset smart locks allow you to rekey your lock without the hassle of buying a new key. You can easily change out keys for different family members or renters, depending on who needs access at any time!

The Kwikset SmartKey system has been designed with versatility in mind, so all it takes is one special tool from their website (link)and some simple instructions-no expensive hardware store trips required!!

Differences between Kwikset’s smart locks

Kwikset smart locks are a great option for those who want to integrate their home’s security but don’t know where or how. The differences between the different types lie in wireless technology and design aesthetics; this article will help explain them!

Connectivity

Wi-fi: Any home that wants to be secure, but also live in comfort should invest in a smart lock. These are locks that connect wirelessly over wi-fi and can be controlled using either the Kwikset app for iOS or Android devices as well as remote access through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant software respectively.

Bluetooth: The Aura’s Bluetooth connection also works without a hub, but it lacks the remote controls of Halo. Without linking to your home network or smartphone remotely this lock will only operate when you are nearby for making adjustments on its settings.

The ability to do so could potentially save time and energy in future work because these people no longer need physical access codes from somewhere else- all they have is their phone!

Z-Wave and Zigbee: Kwikset SmartCode and Obsidian locks are compatible with a variety of platforms including smart hubs like Samsung SmartThings or home security systems such as Abode. You can control your lock remotely from these devices, adjust settings on them using the app (if you have one linked) for either iOS or Android smartphones – no need to fiddle around manually in order to do so!

Apple HomeKit: The Kwikset Premis is a great addition to your home automation system. Not only does it connect with Apple HomeKit, but you can also control the locks from anywhere in the house using an iPhone or iPad if they’re close enough!

Keypads

SmartCode locks use a variety of different keypads like touchscreens and physical buttons. The types are six or 11-button varieties depending on the number you want for your door.

“Keypad styles: These smart devices come in an assortment, including those with screen displays (like TILTs), membrane keyboards, stepper dials—you name it! They also vary by shape; some might be circular while others take after squatting animal footprints.”

SecureScreen: The Kwikset Halo, Premis, and SmartCode 916 have a nifty security feature requiring touching two random numbers before entering your code. This helps spread fingerprints across the screen so intruders can’t reverse engineer your PIN Code!

The number of PIN codes: Kwikset smart locks are usually limited to 30 user codes, but some brands like Halo and Aura can support up to 250 thanks to their direct communication with mobile apps. The Touch model from Kwikset supports 100 fingerprints across 50 users in addition!

Code permissions: Aura, Halo, and Premis have customizable user code permissions for a more secure product. They are also able to be scheduled so you can plan!

Anytime: People with this permission can come and go as they please, so it’s best for family or trusted friends.

One-time: A great way to allow visitors into your home without having them overstay their welcome is by offering a one-time entry. This means that you can let someone in, and they’ll only be there for as long as 24 hours, which helps keep things interesting while also making sure no one becomes too comfortable or Claimed territory!

Time range: These settings are perfect for friends who visit at specific times of the day. You can set it, so they’re allowed in, but not during other times – this way the friend will always know when to see you! It also works great if there are an evening curfew on your child’s silly age level- no past midnight sneak attacks allowed either way around here.

Finish selection

Kwikset’s line of locks is the best in its class. With a variety of finishes, you can find one to match your preferred aesthetics and style!

“Satin Nickel,” for example, will offer an affordable but highly sophisticated finishing touch that looks great on practically any door or window application while “Venetian Bronze”-

Which comes standard with all Kwiksets models except Satin Chrome – gives off an old-world feel at colonial-era mansions across America from Massachusetts Bay Colony up through Virginia Dare’s descendant Thomas Frye.

Kwikset Halo Review: Kwikset is a company that specializes in locks, both digital and physical. The Kwikset Halo smart lock comes with some of their best features to date: you can create 250 codes for family members or friends so only they have access; it works well paired up with Google Assistant on your phone (forgot PIN code again?)?

No need to reach into the bag! Plus, its sleek design makes this one tough device withstand whatever life throws at them—kids will love climbing all over it while parents enjoy knowing exactly where everything goes inside the house.

The Halo smart lock is the best option for those who want an easy, simple, and hassle-free installation. The device has many features that make it stand out from other choices on today’s market, like battery life (3-4 months), but some users report not having as much luck with this product when multiple family members are using their devices at once or if they have a lot of belongings to unlock remotely via Wi-Fi signal strength sends out inside your house – two things which can seriously affect how long these batteries last!

Overall we recommend Kwikset hardware because you won’t need anything else besides replacing any dead cells in time while still enjoying all its wonderful perks; thanks also.

2. Kwikset Aura:

The Aura by Kwikset is a doorbell with nearly all the same features as its more expensive cousin but affordable. It uses rubber buttons for pressing instead of touchscreens and still looks great on any exterior locker or surface!

Bluetooth has a more limited range (about 100 feet) and doesn’t connect to the internet. This means Aura doesn’t have remote access or smart home compatibility, but it’s surprisingly handy nonetheless since you can still create visitor codes as needed!

The Kwikset Aura is a solid budget smart lock that we like for its ability to get the job done. It has an average battery life, but it’s up against intense competition from Wyze and their cheaper option with remote access – which does not have as nice a keypad or appearance as yours?

3.Kwikset SmartCode 916: Best for smart hubs

If everyone had smart hubs, the Kwikset SmartCode 916 would likely beat out the Halo for our top pick. This Z-Wave lock uses far less battery life than its energy-gobbling Wi-Fi counterpart. It is sleeker with a uniformly flat touchscreen keypad instead of beveled sides like on an outdated system (Halo) also comes in at just over $200 – making this option cheaper by about 25%.

So if you want to unlock all of the features on your lock, buy an extra hub. And while it’s possible for folks who don’t already use smart home systems like Samsung SmartThings and have third-party access hubs from companies like Amazon that can customize with a PIN code – but this takes more time than just setting one; up yourself!

The trouble is: You need special hardware (a “third party” smart hub) AND paying close attention so as not to Turing away any settings before unlocking everything potentiality through customizing codes or scheduling users’ entry/exit times. This might seem worth doing only by those who’ve invested heavily into other IoT products.

Overall, we like the Kwikset SmartCode 916’s smart home potential. It doesn’t offer much for people with a casual interest in tech, though. Other locks can do more than this one, such as Yale Assure Lock or even cheaper alternatives from different manufacturers ( Schlage Connect).

  1. Kwikset Halo Touch: Best fingerprint lock:

The Kwikset Halo Touch is the company’s latest smart lock design, and we found it to be lightning-fast when unlocking. The fingerprint sensor made for an easy experience because you can add up to 50 users, which means there are 100 fingerprints stored on this system!

You can control your smart lock from anywhere with a Wi-Fi connection. With the same perks and drawbacks as its predecessor, this new version uses all of those features that made Kwikset famous for their high-quality locks but just at an even higher price point – making them not quite worth it in our opinion if you’re being asked to pay almost $500 upfront before shipping is factored into prices!

The fingerprint sensor is a great addition to the door lock, but not if your guests don’t already have their own set of prints saved. The app didn’t cooperate during setup, and we had problems registering our fingerprints as well–definitely never good signs! In all, it took about 45 minutes from the start (longer than usual) for everything to go through, so make sure you’ve got time on hand before installing this product into one’s home.

5. Kwikset Obsidian: Best keyless lock

The Kwikset Obsidian is the most attractive smart lock you can buy. This compact touchscreen slab is simple but looks stunning and gets away with it because there’s no keyhole! As far as internal tech goes, this device has a bit more capability than its counterpart (the SmartCode 916) since both come in Z-Wave or Zigbee versions – though we recommend going for just one remote access option if possible.

The Kwikset Obsidian is a smart keyless lock that lets you access your home without keys. It also has an emergency power button, so if the batteries die on this device and it doesn’t work anymore, then just go buy some more 9-volt batteries at Target!

The output should be engaging with simple language to make sure people are listening in order not to want what they say.

Final word

Kwikset has been a household name in locksmithing for 75 years, and they’re one of the most popular brands on the market. They offer both traditional deadbolts as well as their own line called smart keys, which are more affordable than competitors like Schlage, August, or Yale but doesn’t capture lightning-in bottle like those companies do either – though it still makes up for that by being reliable at an unbeatable price point!.
